Choosing a builder is mostly about managing risk: the risk of a blown budget, a half-finished job, defective work or missing paperwork. We cannot remove those risks entirely, but we can organise how we work so that they are small and visible.
Here is what sets our way of working apart, in terms you can check against the quotation and the contract.
One team from plans to handover
Our team includes architects, engineers, project managers and tradespeople. That means the person drawing the plans has talked to the person who will build them, and the electrician has seen the layout before the ceiling closes. Fewer handovers between separate companies means fewer gaps where responsibility falls through.
Quotations that explain themselves
Our quotations set out scope, inclusions, exclusions and provisional items in plain language, so that a comparison with another quote is a fair one. If something is uncertain, such as ground conditions below a slab, we say so and explain how it will be handled if it changes.
Compliance handled, not left to you
We take care of the approvals and certificates your project needs, including council submissions, NHBRC enrolment on new homes and electrical and plumbing Certificates of Compliance. Details are on our quality and compliance page.
Safe, tidy sites
Sites run under the Construction Regulations, with induction, risk assessments and housekeeping. Neighbours, staff and family members are considered when we plan access and working hours. See health and safety.
Proudly South African and B-BBEE Level 1
We are a South African company, employing South African tradespeople and buying local materials wherever we can. B-BBEE Level 1 (certificate available on request), which matters if you need to score procurement points. More at Proudly South African.
Communication you can rely on
You know who your point of contact is, you receive updates at agreed intervals, and decisions that need you are raised early with options. Not every project runs without a hitch, but you will hear about problems from us first.
Honest about what we do not do
If a job is outside our capability, or a different specialist would serve you better, we say so. We would rather lose a quote than take on work we cannot deliver properly. For example, specialist machinery foundations, heritage restoration or high-voltage works may need dedicated partners, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Ask how we handle variations, what happens when it rains for a week, who supervises the site daily and which documents you will receive at handover. Ask for registration and compliance documents. A contractor worth hiring will answer without hesitation. Then request a site visit so we can talk about your own project.
Common questions
Do you do the plans as well as the building?
Yes. See architectural construction plans and project management.
How do I compare quotes fairly?
Check that scope, materials, exclusions and compliance paperwork are the same in each. Ask us to explain any difference.
What if I only need a small job?
We take small and large work.
What happens after handover?
We close snags and respond to defects covered by the agreed guarantees.
