Residential Painting Services in Midrand and Gauteng

A repaint changes how a home looks and feels, and protects it for years if the preparation is right.

Most homeowners judge a paint job by the colour on the day it is finished. The real test comes two summers later, when poorly prepared walls start to peel and bubble. The difference is almost entirely in the work you cannot see: the cleaning, filling, sealing and priming done before any colour goes on.

TMSMT Construction paints houses, flats and townhouses throughout Midrand and greater Gauteng. Our painters work from a clear specification, protect your floors and furniture, and leave the home tidy at the end of each day.

What we paint

We handle both inside and outside:

  • Interior walls, ceilings, cornices, doors, frames and skirtings
  • Exterior walls, fascias, gutters, gates, garage doors and boundary walls
  • Roofs: tiles and sheeting, after cleaning and repairs
  • Wooden doors, windows, decks and pergolas using suitable varnishes or enamels
  • Metal burglar bars, balustrades and railings, treated for rust
  • Whole-house repaints before sale, rental or move-in

Preparation comes first

We scrape and wash flaking paint, remove mould, repair cracks and holes, sand rough areas and seal stains. Bare plaster is primed with the correct sealer, and glossy surfaces are keyed so that new paint grips.

On exterior walls, hairline cracks are flexible-filled so that they do not reopen with the heat of the day. Where damp or a leak is the cause of the damage, we deal with that first. See waterproofing and maintenance and repairs.

Choosing paint and colour

Interior paints range from flat matt, which hides imperfections, to washable sheens suited to kitchens and children's rooms. Exterior paints need UV and rain resistance. Anti-mould and damp-resistant paints suit bathrooms and cool, shaded walls.

We help with colour choices, suggest testing samples on the actual wall in natural light, and advise on what works with floors and fixed finishes. You decide, we make it work.

Painting in Highveld conditions

Gauteng's climate favours outdoor painting in the dry season, but sudden storms and hot sun both affect application. Paint applied to hot walls dries too quickly, and rain on fresh coats can ruin them. We schedule exterior work for suitable days and allow proper drying between coats.

Winter mornings can be cold and damp, so we watch surface temperature as well as the weather forecast.

Protecting your home

Furniture is moved or covered, floors protected with drop sheets, and fittings masked before painting begins. Dust from sanding is controlled, and we clean up daily so you can keep living in the house.

Our teams are supervised, and workmanship is checked against the agreed specification before we call the job complete.

Painting as part of a bigger project

Painting is the final step of many renovations, extensions and new builds. Having the same contractor paint means new plaster, repairs and finishes are coordinated, and any damage from earlier trades is fixed before handover.

For commercial properties, see commercial painting. To begin, request a quote.

Timing and getting the most from your repaint

Plan exterior work for the drier months and interiors for any time. Do structural repairs, plastering and new tiling before painting, and let new plaster cure so the paint adheres. If you are selling, a fresh neutral coat is one of the best returns on a small budget. If you are renting out, durable washable paints save repainting between tenants. Tell us your goal when you request a quote and we will match the system to it.

Doors, windows and trims get as much attention as walls. Sharp cutting-in, clean lines at ceilings and skirtings, and removing hardware instead of painting around it are the details that make the finished house look professional.

Common questions

How many coats of paint will my house need?

Usually a primer or sealer and two finishing coats. Weak colours over strong ones, or bare plaster, may need more.

Can you paint over damp patches?

Not before the cause is fixed. We find the source, treat it, allow drying and then repaint with a suitable system.

Do you paint roofs?

Yes, tile and sheet roofs, after cleaning and repair. Condition is assessed first.

Do I need to move my furniture?

Small items yes. We cover and shift larger pieces to the middle of the room.

Can you help me choose colours?

We give practical advice and suggest sample patches. Final choices remain yours.
